WhoWeAre

West Lothian RDA was founded in 1977 and is still going strong today. The group is completely operated by volunteers and while we are a member of the National Riding for the Disabled Association, we are an independent charity. Riding for the Disabled Association is a federation of charities and there are around 400 groups across the UK with a combined 13,000 volunteers and 17,000 participants.

We are registered with and regulated by the Office of The Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) and in 2019 we changed our charity from being unincorporated (SC028635) to a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) which resulted in us changing to a new charity number SC049451.

The group is managed by 8 Trustees and in 2022, we had 84 volunteers during the season supporting 38 regular weekly participants.  In addition to our regular participants, we also provided 48 taster sessions from members of a local charity.  When we are not operating, we have a small group of volunteers that help to ensure that our horses are cared for.  We have 10 horses and you can find more details of the horses on this site.

We are located on the Hopetoun Estate near the Whitequarries Industrial Estate and you can find our contact details on the Contact Us Page.

Our charity is purely self-funded and without the dedication of our volunteers together with donations and fundraising activities we could not continue to provide this wonderful opportunity.
