Our Fundraising

West Lothian RDA is completely run by volunteers and purely self-funded. Without the dedication of our volunteers together with donations and fundraising activities we could not continue to provide this wonderful service. Our operating costs are approximately £32,000 per year so in other words we need to raise around £600 per week.

If you scroll down you can find out information about our fundraising highlights, how you could help and also how to donate.

Our Fundraising Highlights

Our group is self funded and we are constantly overwhelmed by the generosity of our community. Each year we receive donations from individuals, community groups and local businesses.

We appreciate every single donation and it means so much to our participants. We have had some extra challenges in the last couple of years due to losing a number of horses as well as the COVID-19 pandemic but every time, the community has rallied and helped us recover.

In addition to all the donations from individuals, we'd like to thank the following organisations:

Bathgate Academy, James Young School, Police Scotland Young Volunteers, Yellow Teapot Charity, Church of Scotland, West Lothian Trefoil Group, SWRI West Lothian Group, West Lothian Rotary Club, Inner Wheel Club of Corstorphine, Co-op, Ineos, Aviagen, Winchburgh Developments, Mannerstons Farm Shop & Cafe, BlackRock, Aegon UK/Atos, Philipstoun Community Centre and The Johnston Smillie Charitable Trust.

In 2020 the year started well with our biggest donation ever in West Lothian RDA’s history from Aegon UK & Atos. Read more about that in our Blog page.

How Can You Help?

There are a number of ways in which you can help and every donation no matter the size is greatly appreciated by everyone in the group.

  • You can support us by attending one of our fundraising events. We try to hold a number of fundraising events each year as well as having a stall at community events

  • You can donate some baking when we have a cake and candy stall at community events

  • You could take part in a sponsored event and nominate us as your charity

  • If your place of work supports local charities, you could nominate our group for consideration

  • If you are in a member of a community group that raises money for local charities, you could nominate our group for consideration

If you have any ideas for fundraising, please do get in touch via our contact us page or Social Media pages.
